Pilot Studies
Tetra Tech RTW can design and implement pilot-scale studies to support client
projects. Most often conducted on-site, these studies generally focus on
obtaining parameters critical to process design and modeling. However, these
studies can also be used to test or to validate project feasibility in the
case of investigating new technologies. Examples of bench studies include
investigation of kinetic parameters for biological nutrient removal (e.g.,
nitrification, denitrification, and enhanced biological phosphorus removal)
and assessment of the use of granular ferric hydroxide and coagulation/microfiltration
for the removal of arsenic. Where conducted on-site, these studies can provide
excellent insight into the performance of various processes under the most
realistic operating conditions.
